<p>Yoga meditation is known to be one of the most effective and natural  stress relievers. Meditation is listed as one of the five branches of  yoga and deals with controlling the mind in order to realize the self.  Meditation is much more than simply chanting of the mantras. Most  beginners find it easy to begin their meditation by keeping an object in  mind. The idea is to focus on the object only. After a few seconds one  will find that the mind will begin to wander off and here one needs to  shift the focus back on the object in question. Over time, one learns to  keep other thoughts at bay and totally relax by keeping the mind  focused and blank. This process helps increase concentration, focus well  on our tasks and also relax and rejuvenate both the mind and the body.  Those who lead hectic lives or suffer from intense stress have benefited  from meditations immensely. The idea here is not the length of the  meditation but its intensity and quality.</p>
<p>Meditation and yoga postures combine to offer the entire deal of both  mind and body fitness. Mostly mediation is undertaken in four poses,  these being the full lotus, the half lotus, the Burmese pose and the  Egyptian pose. Depending on the level of the pupil, a pose is assigned  for mediation. The focus is completely on controlling the mind rather  than the body. <p>Yoga has been used for relaxation and stress management quite a lot  lately. The positive effects of yoga in this area have made many  commercial ventures adopt the technique to help their staff deal with  the pressures of work too. While other forms of exercise do not do much  in terms of offering calm and peace, the system of yoga propagates that  unless the mind is at peace, the body cannot benefit in any way. Based  on this theory, a large part of the study of yoga is dedicated to  meditation. It is believed that to relax means that little or no energy  is consumed by the mind and one is rejuvenating and resting. This is why  when we sleep we tend to refer to it as resting. Yoga unlike other  forms of exercising does not target only weight loss or muscle building;  the aim of yoga is to achieve a state of peacefulness both for the body  and the mind. While the body is exercised by postures, the mind is  stimulated by meditations and chants that help release stress and other  similar negative emotions. Hatha yoga is known to be rather effective  for people who are looking at relaxing the mind primarily.
